Victim Support Counselling

Victim Support will fund counselling for people affected by homicide or death caused by a criminal act. This funding is only available for counsellors registered by Victim Support. Dr Smith is a registered Victim Support counsellor.  To get approval for counselling you will need to make an application through your local Victim Support office.

Who is eligible?

You are eligible if you are:

  • family or a friend of a homicide victim or a person deceased by a crimical act
  • witness to a homicde or death by a crimical act
  • the first person on the scene after a homicide or a death caused by a criminal act

How much does the counselling cost?

Victim Support fully funds homicide counselling so your sessions will be free.

How many sessions are available?

Victim Support will pay for up to a maximum of 30 counselling sessions. A written report is made to Victim Support by your counsellor after 5, 15, and 25 sessions if further sessions are required.
