Dr Louise Smith is a senior clinical psychologist who is based in Cromwell and offers face to face sessions to clients throughout the Central Otago and Southern Lakes regions (Cromwell, Wanaka, Queenstown, Arrowtown, Alexandra).  Online professional and clinical supervision is available nationwide.

Dr Smith qualified as a clinical psychologist in 1994 from the University of Otago, Dunedin.  She holds both a doctorate in psychology and a post-graduate diploma in clinical psychology.  Following graduation Dr Smith worked in private practice and was involved in counsellor training.  She has a passion for both short and long-term therapeutic work and is an accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapy practitioner and supervisor, as well as continuing to offer cognitive behavioural therapy and ACT.  Dr Smith is accredited to work with clients for ACC.  She provides therapeutic work with adults and adolescents with a variety of issues (anxiety, depression, OCD, recovery following trauma or abuse, grief, identity issues, self-harm, relational issues, etc.).  Supervision for clinical psychologists, counsellors, and other allied health professionals is also available.

Dr Smith has been a specialist report writer and expert witness for the Family Court since 1996 and can assist with supporting parents as they look for the best possible parenting plans for their children.  Whilst continuing to offer therapeutic services across the years, Dr Smith has also worked in a range of management and consultancy positions and has published a number of papers.

Face-to-face appointments are available on alternate Wednesdays in Cromwell (with other time options possible by arrangement).  Wednesday sessions start time at 09:45 am with the last session starting at 03:45 pm.

Online sessions are available on alternate Thursdays for one-off consults, follow-ups with previous clients, and for supervision.  Thursday session start time is 08:30 am with the last session starting at 02:45 pm.
